- Launch: March 2024; months from launch to the outcome: 6
- Team: 1 person at the headline figure (founder's post, September 2024); solo founder in July 2025; "a small team" in July 2026, headcount not published
- Outside funding: None; the press kit says "Self-funded to profitability"

**The product.** A web app in which you type a prompt or upload one or more images, choose one of 11 generation engines from different AI companies, and get a textured 3D model. Built-in tools then clean the mesh, repaint the textures, add a skeleton for animation, prepare the file for a 3D printer and export it as GLB, FBX, OBJ, STL, USDZ or BLEND. One credit balance pays for every engine, and the same tools are sold to developers as a REST API.

**Why it worked.** It came early. The founder says that in 2023 everyone was building text and image AI while 3D was almost ignored, so he built a prototype in a weekend and indie game studios tried it within 48 hours. He then added each new 3D model soon after it appeared and wrote comparison and tutorial pages, which in July 2025 he said brought more than 80 percent of new sign-ups through Google search.

Evidence grades: A = disclosed by a public company, a filing or a payment processor, or verified by one; B = two or more independent reports agree, or a journalist confirmed it; C = a founder claim that no one else verified; D = reported, not verified: one founder claim or a third-party estimate with no second source; calc = computed on this page from graded facts.

## Summary

3D AI Studio is a web app that makes a 3D model, a file that describes the surface of an object as a mesh of many small triangles or squares together with the images painted on it (the textures), from a text prompt or a photo. It does not depend on one AI model. It is a model aggregator, a product that sells access to the models of several other companies through one account: in October 2026 its models page lists 11 engines, among them Meshy 6, Tripo P1 and P2, Rodin Gen-2.5 by Deemos, Tencent Hunyuan3D, Microsoft TRELLIS 2, ByteDance Seed3D and Hitem3D, plus a default engine called Prism 3.1 that the company presents as its own. Around the generators it offers finishing tools such as retopology, rebuilding a messy mesh with fewer and cleaner polygons so that a game engine or an animator can use it.

Jan Hammer, who founded the company in Heilbronn in Germany, made 3D animations for large YouTube channels while still at school and then trained as a media designer. He told the German magazine StartupValley in July 2025 that he began programming the tool in 2023 for his own work. On 24 September 2024 he posted on X that it had gone "From 0-300k ARR in 6 Months as a Indie Hacker!", with a "1 Person Team" and "60% Profits", as the website eBiz Facts quoted on 31 October 2024. ARR means annual recurring revenue: the subscription revenue of one month times 12, so US$300,000 ARR is about US$25,000 a month by that founder's statement. In the July 2025 interview he still called himself a solo founder. The company's press kit states US$3.3 million ARR, 1.5 million registered creators and "a small team" as of 5 July 2026.

Both revenue figures are statements by the founder or his company, each with one date, and no payment processor or buyer has confirmed them, so this page carries the badge "Reported, not verified" and the headline is graded D. The headline is the 2024 figure because it is the last one with a stated team size of one person; the 2026 team size is not published. The page also shows four earlier companies that built one front door to other companies' services and failed when those suppliers changed course.

## Pricing

3D AI Studio prices in October 2026, read from the home page, the models page and the pricing page (grade C); the pricing page draws its digits by script, so the Pro monthly price could not be read

| Plan | Per month, billed yearly (US$) | Per month, billed monthly (US$) | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | 0 | 0 | free credits for selected tools, no card |
| Basic | 12 | 19 | 1,000 credits a month, up to 100 assets |
| Studio | 23 | 29 | 3,500 credits a month, all tools and the API |
| Pro | 139 | | 18,000 credits a month, 3 team seats; monthly price not readable |
| 2,000 credits | 34 one-time | | credits never expire |
| 5,000 credits | 69 one-time | | credits never expire |
| 35,000 credits | 399 one-time | | credits never expire |

Plans are monthly credit allowances. The home page gives the yearly prices: Basic US$12 a month billed as US$144, Studio US$23 a month billed as US$276 and Pro US$139 a month billed as US$1,668. The models page gives Basic at US$19 and Studio at US$29 when billed monthly, and the pricing page says Studio is "Just $10 more" than Basic. The discount labels next to the yearly prices (37%, 41% and 7%) do not all match these monthly prices: 41% for Studio would need a monthly price near US$39. The pricing page lists 20 credits for an image-to-3D or text-to-3D generation and free texture, remesh and LOD tools; the models page lists 15 to 70 credits per generation depending on the engine. Every paid plan has a 7-day money-back guarantee.

How to read this table: a grade D value is a single statement by the founder or the company with one date, not checked by anyone else. A grade C value is the founder's interview or a fact read on the company's own pages or on a provider's page. A "calc" value was computed on this page from the rows above it. No value is grade A or B.

## When did 3D AI Studio launch, and how did it grow? Timeline

From a weekend prototype built for his own work to a platform that resells eleven 3D engines and its own API, in about two and a half years. Each entry carries its grade.

- **2023** (grade C [3]): Hammer starts to program a tool that makes 3D models with AI, for his own animation work. He studies NeRF and diffusion methods and puts a weekend prototype online; indie studios test it within 48 hours.
- **20 February 2024** (grade C [17]): The Internet Archive saves the 3daistudio.com home page for the first time.
- **March 2024** (grade calc [1]): Launch, by the founder's count of six months before his September post. eBiz Facts writes that he worked on the tool for 4 months before launch.
- **24 September 2024** (grade D [1]): The founder posts on X that the tool went from zero to US$300,000 ARR in 6 months, with a one-person team and 60% profit.
- **31 October 2024** (grade D [1]): eBiz Facts quotes the post under the title "$300K ARR From A Tool He Launched 6 Months Ago".
- **11 July 2025** (grade C [3]): StartupValley interview: he works as a solo founder, more than 80% of new sign-ups come from Google search, and the Discord server has more than 3,000 members.
- **November 2025** (grade C [8]): Technical integration with Tencent Cloud's 3D model. The company later writes that it has since been "reclaiming market share".

- **19 March 2026** (grade C [8, 9]): At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the company announces an expanded partnership with Tencent Cloud.
- **12 April 2026** (grade C [9]): Team workspaces and shared projects for studios.
- **20 June 2026** (grade C [9]): Flow, a node editor in the browser that chains image, 3D and video steps into reusable workflows.
- **5 July 2026** (grade D [2]): The press kit states US$3.3 million ARR, 1.5 million registered creators and a small team.
- **October 2026** (grade C [4, 5]): The models page lists 11 engines; the home page says 1.6 million creators.
- **22 October 2026** (grade A [19]): saas.group announces that it has bought 3D AI Studio. The founder: "I built 3D AI Studio alone, from a small town in Germany". The buyer calls it "a profitable, self-funded AI product" built "almost single-handedly". No price is published.

## Why did 3D AI Studio work?

### Early in a category that others ignored

The founder told StartupValley that his moment of decision came when he saw everyone rush into text and image AI while 3D stayed almost untouched, and his own clients waited days for simple models. A rough first version was enough: "Unsere erste Iteration war technisch nicht gut und optisch nicht schön" (translation: our first version was technically not good and visually not pretty), but it brought real feedback.

### Every engine in one account

Each 3D model maker sells its own web app with its own credits. 3D AI Studio puts Meshy, Tripo, Rodin, Hunyuan3D and others behind one credit balance, so a user can run the same image through two engines and keep the better model. Its models page puts the cost of four separate subscriptions at about US$160 a month or more, against US$19 a month for its own Basic plan; these are the company's own numbers.

### A search page for every rival

The site has pages for "Meshy alternative", "Tripo alternative", model comparisons and use cases from Roblox to resin printing. The founder said in July 2025 that blog articles, Reddit posts about his progress and answers in forums started the growth, and that Google search now brings more than 80 percent of new sign-ups.

### Finishing tools around the raw model

Raw AI meshes rarely work in a game or a printer as they are. Remeshing, texturing, splitting for printing, rigging and conversion are built in, and the pricing page says texture, remesh and LOD tools are free on every plan. This keeps users in one place after the generation step.

## How it was built

These details come from the founder's interview and the company's own pages, including its third-party software notices. They are grade C.

- Started in 2023 as a tool for his own 3D work; a weekend prototype went online first and real users came within 48 hours.
- The web app uses Next.js 16 and React 19, three.js, a library for 3D graphics in the browser, and React Flow, a library for node editors, according to the third-party licenses page.
- Product analytics with PostHog and Vercel Analytics, and error tracking with Sentry, listed on the same licenses page.
- 3D engines come from other companies: Tencent Hunyuan3D through a partnership with Tencent Cloud, Tripo through what the company calls an API partnership, plus Meshy, Rodin by Deemos, Microsoft TRELLIS 2, ByteDance Seed3D and Hitem3D.
- Image models for the reference pictures: Google Gemini 3 Pro, Gemini 3.1 Flash and Gemini 2.5 Flash and ByteDance Seedream V5 Lite, named in the API launch release.
- Growth: technical blog articles, posts on Reddit and answers in forums, then search pages; an affiliate program hosted on Lemon Squeezy; a Discord server for feedback.
- He tells other founders to automate routine work with AI tools early, such as marketing texts, simple support answers and SEO analyses.

## Who tried this before 3D AI Studio, and why did they fail?

Four companies in the Loot Drop database built one front door to services that other companies owned. The values below are from that database and are not independently verified.

The failed startups come from Loot Drop (https://www.loot-drop.io/), a free database of dead startups, retold here in our own words; Loot Drop describes its entries as AI-assisted summaries of public sources, so they carry no evidence grade.

### Singly (2011 to 2016; funding US$2.7M; cause: Competition)

- Promise: One API that let developers reach users' data on many social networks.
- Why it died: It depended on other companies' APIs, which changed and broke, and broader automation tools such as Zapier and IFTTT took the market.
- Record: https://www.loot-drop.io/startup/548-singly

### Fanhattan (2010 to 2016; funding US$21M; cause: Competition)

- Promise: One search box for movies and TV shows across all streaming services.
- Why it died: Netflix, Roku and Apple built their own discovery, and the middleman lost its place.
- Record: https://www.loot-drop.io/startup/137-fanhattan

### SetJam (2009 to 2013; funding US$2.1M; cause: Competition)

- Promise: One hub to search and open TV shows and movies from many streaming platforms.
- Why it died: It lacked the license agreements to embed the content, and the large services grew their own libraries and apps.
- Record: https://www.loot-drop.io/startup/532-setjam

### Real Artists (2016 to 2019; funding US$3M; cause: Competition)

- Promise: A cloud animation studio for independent artists and small studios.
- Why it died: Large software makers added the same features to tools that artists already used, and small customers could not pay enough.
- Record: https://www.loot-drop.io/startup/1073-real-artists

## What changed

Singly, Fanhattan and SetJam each sold a single entrance to services that belonged to someone else, and each died when the owners of those services changed their APIs, built their own discovery or refused licenses. 3D AI Studio is the same kind of bet: Meshy, Tripo and Rodin all sell their own web apps to the same creators, and Tripo's terms forbid making its model service available to end users without its written consent. Real Artists shows the other risk: a tool for small studios loses when the big tools add the same feature.

Two things differ. First, the 3D model makers sell paid APIs and want other products to use them, and one of them, Tencent Cloud, is quoted in the company's press release as a partner, so the supply is a contract and not a scrape. Second, 3D AI Studio does work that a single model maker has little reason to do: it compares rival engines on the same image and adds the remeshing, splitting, rigging and conversion steps that turn a raw mesh into a usable file. The founder's own speed matters too: he says he often tests a new 3D model on the day it appears, before larger companies finish their approval process.

## Can one person copy 3D AI Studio now?

**Verdict: The method, yes. The head start, no.**

Being early with 3D generation in 2024 was a timing advantage that is gone; many companies now sell 3D models from text. What a reader can copy is the structure: one account over several paid model APIs, finishing tools that the model makers do not build, and search pages that answer "which model is best for this job". It works only with real API agreements, because the suppliers can close access.

1. Pick a kind of output (3D, audio, video) where several model makers sell paid APIs and none is best at everything.
2. Read each provider's API terms and get written approval before you offer its model to your users.
3. Add the steps after generation that every user needs, and make some of them free.
4. Write a comparison or guide page for every rival and every use case, and answer questions in the forums where your users already are.

**What is still open.** Areas where models multiply faster than users can test them: video, music, voice and image editing, and the tools for 3D printing and game assets that sit after the generation step.

## What could go wrong for 3D AI Studio?

- **What is not verified.** The headline figure of US$300,000 ARR rests on one founder post on X, dated 24 September 2024 by its post ID, which was read only as eBiz Facts quoted it on 31 October 2024; X needs a login and was not opened. The later figure of US$3.3 million ARR as of 5 July 2026 comes from the company's own press kit. No payment processor, tax record, investor or buyer has confirmed either number, and they are one statement each, not a series. A reader could look for a payment-processor-verified revenue profile, or an interview in which the founder shows a revenue dashboard.
- **The sale price is not published.** saas.group's announcement of 22 October 2026 confirms the acquisition and quotes both sides, but states no price, no revenue and no terms. The buyer's words, "a profitable, self-funded AI product" built "almost single-handedly", agree with the founder's earlier statements; the founder says that joining saas.group means he can build the product "with a team behind me".
- **Why the headline is the 2024 figure.** The founder wrote "1 Person Team" in September 2024 and called himself a solo founder in July 2025. The July 2026 press kit says only that he is "leading a small team". This site requires grade A or B money evidence when a team may have 6 to 10 people, so the larger 2026 figure is shown in the table but not used as the headline.
- **The engines belong to other companies.** Most engines in the product are other companies' models. Tripo's Terms of User Agreement (updated 11 July 2025) say users shall not "make the Generative 3D Foundation Model Service available to any third party, including end users, without the prior written authorization and consent of Holymolly". 3D AI Studio says it uses Tripo's models "through their API partnership", and it also offers Tripo P1 and P2 through its own API; no statement by Tripo was found. Meshy's website disallows Claude's crawler in its robots.txt, so Meshy's terms were not read; its API documentation sells prepaid API credits. Hyper3D, the maker of Rodin, lists an official API. The only partnership that the company announced in a press release is with Tencent Cloud. If a provider ends access, that engine leaves the product.
- **A lost market share, by the company's own account.** The Tencent Cloud press release of 19 March 2026 says that since November 2025 the company has been "reclaiming market share", which means it had lost share before. No source gives monthly revenue for 2025.
- **Ratings and customer stories were not checked.** The home page and the models page show a Trustpilot rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 167 reviews and named customer stories from game, animation and 3D-printing studios. Trustpilot disallows Claude's crawlers, so the rating was not checked, and the customer stories were not checked with the customers. The page source has no structured-data rating.
- **Affiliate page wording.** The affiliate page states a commission, "earn up to $417.00 on each sale", which is a stated commission and not a claim about what users earn with the product. It also carries the line "Affiliate partnerships are one of the simplest yet most profitable ways to make money online", on a page that says it is hosted by Lemon Squeezy's affiliate hub.
