**The product.** A web app that shows how a wall will look before you buy anything. A free tool in the browser places picture frames at their real size on a photo of your wall. A paid AI workspace sends the photo to an image model, which returns the same room with the wall repainted, papered, decorated or redesigned from a text instruction.

**Why it worked.** Buying the wrong print size, paint colour or wallpaper costs money and a weekend. The site gives away the frame tool and the rough paint preview, which also rank in search, and sells photo-real AI renders for one payment of US$29 instead of a monthly subscription.

Evidence grades: A = disclosed by a public company, a filing or a payment processor, or verified by one; B = two or more independent reports agree, or a journalist confirmed it; C = a founder claim that no one else verified; D = reported, not verified: one founder claim or a third-party estimate with no second source; calc = computed on this page from graded facts.

## Summary

walldecor.io is a wall visualizer, a tool that shows a change to a wall on a photo of that wall before the change is made. The free part runs in the browser and is not AI: it scales frames from one object of known size, such as a door. The paid part is an AI workspace, where the room photo goes to a third-party image model, a neural network that edits or creates pictures from a photo and a text instruction, and comes back with new paint, wallpaper, decorations or a full wall makeover. The company's terms say the furniture, floor and light stay as they are.

TrustMRR names Mihai Pavel as the founder and Romania as the country; the terms name the operator as EHRESTE VENTURES SRL, a company registered in Romania. The domain was parked and offered for sale from 2021 to at least November 2023, and the first Stripe revenue and the oldest dated pages appear in December 2025. Revenue read by TrustMRR through a Stripe API key was US$577 in total by 3 November 2026, of which US$348 came in the last 30 days, from twelve payments of US$29. The founder states on the profile that he works alone with no outside money, and he listed the business for sale on 15 October 2026 at US$10,000.

This is a very small business, shown here because the revenue is verified by the payment processor (grade A) and because the method is easy to copy: free search pages and free tools, with paid AI renders sold as credits. The page also shows three funded interior-design companies that failed with the same promise when each design still needed a human designer.

## Pricing

walldecor.io prices on 3 November 2026, from the company's home page and terms (grade C)

| Plan | Per month, billed yearly (US$) | Per month, billed monthly (US$) | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free to try | 0 | 0 | art visualizer with standard frames, paint colour previews, gallery wall templates; no account |
| Lifetime | 29 one-time | | 40 credits for photo-real AI renders; own art, all frame styles; credits never expire |

There is no subscription. The Lifetime payment of US$29 gives 40 credits and permanent account access; a render or a tweak such as "warmer" or "add a plant" costs 1 credit and a wallpaper change costs 2, so one credit costs about US$0.73. The terms say more credits can be bought at the prices shown at the time; no such price was on the pages read. In January 2026 the old home page showed a different credit offer, starting at US$12.

How to read this table: grade A values are revenue figures that TrustMRR reads from Stripe through an API key. Grade C values are the founder's own profile text or the company's own pages. A "calc" value (grade X) was computed on this page from the rows above it.

## Why did walldecor.io work?

### Free tools that rank in search

The free wall art visualizer, the free paint visualizer, gallery wall templates and 85 sitemap pages of decor ideas answer searches such as "paint visualizer" and "wall decor ideas". The founder lists SEO as the only marketing channel on TrustMRR. The free tools run in the browser, so a visitor who never pays costs almost nothing.

### Rough for free, photo-real for money

The free paint preview says of itself that it is "quick and a little rough". The paid AI workspace returns a photo-real render with "real sheen, real shadows, clean edges around every chair and lamp". The upgrade is shown on the same photo the visitor already uploaded.

### Credits instead of a subscription

Each AI render costs the company a model call, so the paid plan is 40 credits for US$29, not unlimited use. The site compares this with US$39 a month for a whole-room competitor, and the terms explain that a credit is spent when the request is sent, because the model provider is paid at that moment.

### Only the wall changes

Whole-room AI redesign tools change the furniture and the floor. walldecor.io tells the model to change only the wall, so the result answers one buying question: this print, this paint, this wallpaper, in this room.

## How it was built

These details come from the founder's TrustMRR profile, the company's terms and privacy policy, and the page source of the site. They are grade C unless noted.

- Next.js front end on Vercel, with Supabase and Stripe, as the founder lists on TrustMRR; the page source loads Next.js files with a Vercel deployment id.
- The free wall art visualizer composites the artwork onto the photo in the browser. The terms say it "does not use AI image generation" and sends nothing to the server.
- The AI workspace stores uploads in private storage and gives the AI provider a signed link that expires after the generation. One provider generates the image and another looks at the photo to help build the prompt.
- Payments through Stripe, verified on TrustMRR; visitor numbers through DataFast. Sign-in is by magic link and email code, with no password.
- The operating company is a Romanian SRL; the privacy policy says payment records are kept ten years under Romanian tax law.

## Who tried this before walldecor.io, and why did they fail?

Three companies in our database of failed startups promised to show people a designed room before they bought anything, and failed when every design needed paid human work. The values below are from that database and are not independently verified.

The failed startups come from our database of dead startups, retold here in our own words; Its entries are AI-assisted summaries of public sources, so they carry no evidence grade.

### Modsy (2015 to 2022; funding US$72.7M; cause: Unit Economics)

- Promise: Upload photos of your room and get photorealistic 3D renderings with furniture you can buy.
- Why it died: Each design still needed hours of human designer work, and customers were costly to win and bought rarely. It burned its funding without reaching profit.
- Record:

### Laurel & Wolf (2014 to 2019; funding US$25M; cause: Unit Economics)

- Promise: Flat-fee online interior design from professional designers.
- Why it died: The flat fees did not cover the cost of finding customers, and growing the designer network lowered quality.
- Record:

### Tastemaker (2012 to 2015; funding US$1.5M; cause: Competition)

- Promise: Affordable on-demand interior design for middle-income households.
- Why it died: It depended on freelance designers, the service quality varied, and better-funded competitors took the market.
- Record:

## What changed

All three sold a picture of a finished room, and each picture needed a human designer, so every sale carried labour cost and the companies raised money to pay for it. Modsy's database record says its designs took hours of designer time each.

walldecor.io sells a much smaller thing: one wall, one decision, rendered by an image model in seconds for a few cents of compute. That makes a one-time price of US$29 possible for one person with no funding. The cost is that the revenue is small too: the Stripe figures show US$577 in 11 months, and the founder has put the business up for sale.

## Can one person copy walldecor.io now?

**Verdict: Yes, cheaply. Revenue is the hard part.**

Nothing here needs money or special access: a browser tool, an image-model API, Stripe and a set of search pages. The Stripe numbers show that the hard part is traffic and conversion, not the build: about 1,600 visitors a month gave US$348 in the best month.

1. Pick one narrow buying decision that people get wrong (print size, paint colour, wallpaper) and show it on the customer's own photo.
2. Give away a rough, non-AI version that runs in the browser and costs nothing to serve.
3. Sell the photo-real AI version as credits, priced above the model cost per call.
4. Write search pages for each room and style, and connect them to the free tool.

**What is still open.** Other single decisions on a photo: flooring, curtains, kitchen fronts, garden fences, house paint colours, or a widget that a print shop or paint brand puts on its own product pages.

## What could go wrong for walldecor.io?

- **Very small and very new.** The verified total is US$577, about twenty payments, and almost two thirds of it came in one month, October 2026. There was no sale from 27 October to the last sync on 3 November. A reader should treat this as an early test of a product, not an established income.
- **Home page claims that are not verified.** From January to April 2026 the archived home page showed "Rated ★★★★★ by Pinterest users" with no link or source, "As seen on Pinterest Reddit TikTok Instagram", and a counter "423 redesigned walls until now" that did not change in those months. The current page says "5,250 walls fixed so far" without saying what is counted; it may include uses of the free tool. The founder's own estimated user count on TrustMRR is 100. The current page shows no named testimonials.
- **Founded date and launch date differ.** TrustMRR gives 29 April 2022 as the founded date, but archived copies show the domain parked for sale in 2021 and 2022 and in an auction in November 2023. The product's first revenue and oldest pages are from December 2025.
- **Unnamed AI provider.** The terms and privacy policy say the photo goes to a third-party model in the US, and that the providers are named on request. A price rise or a change of terms by that provider changes the cost of every credit.
- **Listed for sale.** The founder listed the business on TrustMRR on 15 October 2026 at US$10,000, about 2.4 times a year of the last-30-day revenue. The October sales began on 6 October, before the listing date. A buyer would want to see the months after the listing.
