OpenClaw

An open-source personal AI assistant that runs on the user's own computer and takes instructions through chat apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram and Slack.

What OpenClaw is

Written from its maker's own pages, read on 28 October 2026.

OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent: a program that uses a large language model to plan and carry out tasks, not only to answer questions. It runs on the user's own Mac, Windows or Linux computer and keeps its state there, not in a vendor cloud. The code is under the MIT license, and the project is stewarded by the OpenClaw Foundation, an independent US 501(c)(3) non-profit.

The agent is reached through chat channels such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Slack, Signal and iMessage, 29 channels in all. It can use hosted, subscription-backed, gateway or local models such as Claude or GPT. It remembers preferences, projects and people between conversations, and it can browse the web, fill forms, read and write files and run shell commands, with full access or in a sandbox. Skills and plugins add abilities, and a team can share one gateway.

It installs with a one-line script, with npm or as a desktop app. There is no subscription and no hosted tier.
