ElyxAI is an Office Add-in, a small web application that Microsoft's Excel loads in a side panel and that can read and change the open workbook through Microsoft's official JavaScript programming interface, Office.js. Inside that panel runs an AI agent: a program that takes a request in plain English or French, plans the steps, and carries them out itself, here by writing formulas, cleaning data and building pivot tables and charts in the user's cells. The add-in is listed in Microsoft's store for add-ins by TCD Apps, a one-person French limited company. The company's legal notice and the French business register name its manager, Thomas Coget, who also sells Excel training under the name Exceleur.
The first archived product page dates from July 2025. Stripe payment records, read by TrustMRR through an API key, show the best month in February 2026 at US$18,819, then US$7,306 in April and a fall to US$1,062 in September. On 25 October 2026 the profile showed monthly recurring revenue (MRR, the amount that active subscriptions bring in each month) of US$2,812 from 131 active subscriptions, about US$33,744 a year if nothing changed. October 2026 looks better than that, US$6,535 by the 25th, but 78% of it arrived in five days, 13 to 17 October. Since 27 May 2026 the business has been listed for sale on TrustMRR at US$79,000; the seller says the dip comes from his reduced involvement.
The headline on this page is the MRR figure, because it is recurring and grade A. The all-time figure of US$74,636 is also grade A, but US$21,004 of it was paid before November 2025, when the product barely sold, and the Stripe account belongs to a company that also publishes an Excel training site and an AI consulting service. The page also shows earlier companies that built on top of Excel or Outlook and lost when Microsoft added the feature itself.

How to read this table: a grade A value comes from Stripe payment records, read through the TrustMRR profile on 25 October 2026 (revenue last synced the same day), from the French state business register, or from the documentation of Microsoft or the European Central Bank. A grade B value is store data computed by Microsoft. A grade C value is a statement by the company or its owner. A "calc" value was computed on this page from the rows that it cites.
| Plan | Per month, billed yearly (US$) | Per month, billed monthly (US$) | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free trial | 0 | 0 | 7 days, about 25 Advanced requests in total, no card |
| Plus | 11.19 (€10) | 13.43 (€12) | unlimited Fast mode, about 500 Advanced requests a month |
| Pro | 27.05 (€24.17) | 32.46 (€29) | about 1,000 Advanced requests a month, Expert mode, priority support |
| Team or company | on request | central billing and member management, by email |
The pricing page shows yearly billing by default: Plus at €120 a year and Pro at €290 a year, which is 10 months' price for 12. The monthly prices, €12 and €29, come from the home page and the Microsoft listing. A request is one task sent to the agent; Fast mode is unlimited on paid plans, Advanced requests are counted, and one Expert task uses roughly 20 to 50 times more of the allowance than an Advanced request. The pages do not say whether VAT is included. Prices have changed several times: in February 2026 the plans were Solo €19, Pro €69 and Business €200 a month, and the TrustMRR profile still lists Starter €29, Pro €59 and Team €119.

Why did ElyxAI work?
Four causes, in the order they mattered. Each one is a reusable lesson.
Do the work in the cells
General chat assistants give a formula to paste or a list of steps. ElyxAI acts in the workbook through Office.js: it reads several tabs, writes the formulas, creates the pivot table and shows each change so that the user can review or undo it. The home page puts this difference first, and the comparison table on the same page is aimed at Microsoft's own Copilot, which needs a separate license.
A narrow customer
The TrustMRR description names finance staff at French mid-market companies, and the target list adds accounting firms and freelance controllers. These users live in Excel, often work in French, and care that data is hosted in Europe. The product answers in English or French and says that its infrastructure is hosted in Europe.
Models bought by the request
The company does not train a model. The privacy policy lists OpenAI and Anthropic (through AWS Bedrock) for the AI work and Tavily for web search. The plans count Advanced and Expert requests and fall back to the cheaper Fast mode when the allowance is used up, which keeps the cost of each subscriber below the price.
Found through Microsoft's store and search pages
Users install the add-in from Microsoft's store in about two minutes. The founder lists SEO and content marketing as the channels on TrustMRR, and the site has guide pages on Excel formulas, Excel errors and use cases by profession. The founder's own Exceleur audience could be a channel too, but no source shows that.
How it was built
These details come from the company's privacy policy, changelog and Microsoft listing, and from the stack that the owner entered on TrustMRR. They are grade C. [8, 1, 9, 6]
- An Office Add-in that runs in the Office JavaScript sandbox inside Excel for Windows, Mac and the web; only requests to the company's own servers leave the user's Office environment.
- Web code in JavaScript and TypeScript with React and Next.js, hosted on Vercel in the European Union, with servers also at Hetzner.
- Supabase in its EU eu-central region for the database, sign-in with Google or Microsoft accounts, server functions and encrypted workbook checkpoints.
- OpenAI for prompts and reading images and scanned PDFs; Anthropic models through AWS Bedrock for longer reasoning; Tavily for web search inside answers.
- Stripe for subscriptions and credit top-ups, Resend for transactional email, Google Analytics and DataFast for site statistics.
- Features added in early 2026 include a worksheet function called ELYX.AI(), Python processing of uploaded files, and screenshots of cell ranges so that the agent can check its own result.
Tools named in the sources
Each one opens its page in the Tools tab, with every story that uses it.
Who tried this before ElyxAI, and why did they fail?
Five companies in the Loot Drop database built on top of Microsoft's office software or competed with spreadsheets, and lost when the platform owners added the feature. The values below are from that database and are not independently verified.
DataNitro
The promiseRun Python scripts inside Excel without leaving the spreadsheet.
Why it diedLimited by Excel's architecture and squeezed by Microsoft's own tools; Excel later added Python itself.
Xobni
The promiseA smarter inbox inside Microsoft Outlook.
Why it diedTied to Outlook, which Microsoft improved itself; mobile made the desktop add-on less useful. Yahoo bought the remains.
Fieldbook
The promiseSpreadsheets with the structure of a database, without knowing SQL.
Why it diedExcel and Google Sheets added database-like features faster than users would switch.
ScaleFactor
The promiseAI-driven bookkeeping for small businesses, without accountant fees.
Why it diedThe automation was weaker than the marketing promised, and QuickBooks kept the customers' trust.
Skysheet
The promiseA cloud spreadsheet with real-time collaboration, to replace Excel.
Why it diedGoogle and Microsoft moved their own spreadsheets to the cloud with the same features.
The failed startups come from Loot Drop, a free database of dead startups, retold here in our own words. Loot Drop describes its entries as AI-assisted summaries of public sources, so these cards carry no evidence grade.
What changed
DataNitro, Xobni, Fieldbook and Skysheet each added something that Excel, Outlook or Google Sheets lacked, and each lost when the platform owner built the same thing. ElyxAI is in the same position: Microsoft sells Copilot in Excel, and its store rules control how ElyxAI is listed and priced. ScaleFactor shows the other risk, an AI promise for finance work that the product could not keep.
Two things are different. The AI models are bought by the request from several providers through official programming interfaces, so the product needed no training budget and no team, and the margin depends on the plan limits rather than on servers. And the customer is narrow: French-speaking finance staff who want results in their own files without a Copilot license. That niche carried the business to US$2,812 a month of recurring revenue by the October 2026 Stripe figure, but not further once the founder stepped back.
Can one person copy ElyxAI now?
The product, yes. Keeping the sales going is the hard part.
An Office Add-in with a bought AI model is within reach of one developer, and Microsoft's store gives it a place to be found. The Stripe figures show that the hard part is not the build but the steady work of getting new customers: revenue fell by 85.5% from April to September 2026 while the founder spent less time on it.
Where it is still open: Add-ins that do the work, not only explain it, for Word, PowerPoint, Outlook or Google Sheets, aimed at one profession and one language that the large vendors serve poorly.
- 1Pick one host application and one job that its users do every week, here Excel and finance reporting.
- 2Act in the user's file through the official add-in interface, and show every change so that it can be checked and undone.
- 3Buy the models through official APIs from more than one provider, and set plan limits that keep each subscriber's model cost below the price.
- 4Write the guide pages that the same users search for, and list the add-in in the host's store.
- 5Plan who will sell it every week before the founder's attention moves elsewhere.
What could go wrong for ElyxAI?
The risks are the mirror image of the causes above.
One Stripe account, several services
The Stripe account that TrustMRR reads belongs to TCD Apps, which also publishes the Exceleur training site and the Klaryx AI consulting site. TrustMRR does not split payments by product. US$21,004 of the all-time total was paid before November 2025, when the product itself made US$94.20 a month, and the February 2026 peak of US$18,819 is not explained by any source. This page therefore uses the MRR from 131 subscriptions as the headline, whose average of about US$21 a month fits ElyxAI's own plans.
Revenue fell when the founder stepped back
Monthly revenue went from US$7,306 in April to US$1,062 in September 2026, MRR fell 23.0% in the last 30 days, and the public changelog has had no entry since 18 March 2026. The seller wrote on TrustMRR that he is refocusing on consulting and that the dip reflects his reduced involvement.
October is mostly five days
Of the US$6,535 paid from 1 to 25 October 2026, US$5,118 came on 13 to 17 October, and US$2,436 on a single day. These may be yearly plans or a few larger customers; the profile does not say. One strong month after a weak summer is not yet a recovery.
Microsoft is both the store and a competitor
Copilot in Excel does part of the same work, and every predecessor on this page lost to a platform owner. Microsoft's store policy 1100.8 also says that when an add-in changes its pricing or licensing terms, existing users must keep the original functionality at the original price; ElyxAI changed its plans at least three times in 2026, and no source says how existing subscribers were treated.
Claims on the site that could not be checked
The home page says "Certified by Microsoft", but Microsoft's listing data gives a certification state of "None": the add-in is listed in the store, without Microsoft 365 Certification or publisher attestation. The testimonials give first names only, and the changelog for 13 March 2026 notes "Updated displayed user testimonials". The February 2026 claim of more than 1,000 users is the company's own, and the store listing has one rating.
Listed for sale
The asking price of US$79,000 is about 1.06 times all-time revenue and about 2.3 times the yearly run rate from MRR. A buyer gets the code and the listing, not the founder's audience as an Excel trainer, and would have to do the sales work that the seller says has stopped.
