AIDesigner is an AI design generator, a web app that draws a finished visual design from a sentence of text. You describe a landing page, a mobile app screen, a logo or a brand kit, and it returns a design that you can edit on a canvas, export, or publish as a website on your own domain. It is aimed at people who practise vibe coding, which means building software by describing it to an AI coding assistant instead of writing the code. The home page promises "Designs that don't look AI-generated": screens without the uniform look of interfaces that AI tools write. It also offers an MCP server. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call outside tools, so Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, VS Code with Copilot or Windsurf can ask AIDesigner for a design from inside a developer's project.

The founder appears as Wiz on his profile at TrustMRR, a site that reads revenue directly from a company's payment account, and in the site's own page data (X account @bowlcutWiz). The author box of the company blog names him as Tyler Yin, "the founder of AIDesigner". The business runs through Friend Technologies, LLC, a US company named in the terms of service. He gave 14 November 2025 as the founding date. Stripe, the payment processor, shows the first sales in December 2025, US$638, and between US$1,155 and US$3,019 a month until March 2026. On 29 March 2026 the npm package that installs the MCP server was first published; npm is the public registry for JavaScript code, and its record shows the date. April revenue reached US$14,082, 12.2 times March. On 16 October 2026 the MRR (monthly recurring revenue: what the active subscriptions bring in each month) was US$8,563 from 293 active subscriptions. That is a run rate, the monthly figure times 12, of about US$102,756 a year.

The revenue figures are grade A. TrustMRR reads them from the company's Stripe account through an API key, a password that lets one program read another program's data, and the same account code appears in the Stripe identifiers of the prices on AIDesigner's pricing page. The trend is down: September 2026 revenue, US$8,841, was 37.2% below April, and MRR fell 5.3% in the 30 days to 16 October. The founding date, the team of one, the user counts and the account of how customers came are statements by the founder or the company, or come from a compiled page that is not an interview; they are grade C. The page also shows five earlier companies that promised to automate web design or to turn designs into code.

How to read this table: a grade A value comes from the company's Stripe account through TrustMRR. A grade C value is a statement by the founder or the company on its own pages, a registry record, or a compiled third-party page that says so. A "calc" value was computed on this page from the rows above it.

03

Why it worked

Four causes, in the order they mattered. Each one is a reusable lesson.

01

A problem stated in one line

The home page promises "Designs that don't look AI-generated". That speaks to people who build with AI coding assistants and get screens that all look alike. The company blog quotes Anthropic's own front-end guidance, which says that models "tend to converge toward generic" outputs.

02

Sold inside the coding tools

The MCP server puts AIDesigner inside Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, VS Code with Copilot and Windsurf. One command writes the configuration files, and the agent can then ask AIDesigner for a design and put the result into the project. The npm package appeared on 29 March 2026, and Stripe revenue in April was 12.2 times March.

03

Credits that grow with use

One paid plan with eleven credit tiers, from US$25 to US$2,250 a month, and a yearly price of ten months. Heavy users pay more without a sales call. The average active subscription brings in about US$29 a month, close to the entry tier.

04

Search pages and affiliates

The blog index lists 52 posts, many of them comparisons with Figma, Canva, Lovable, v0, Bolt, Framer and Webflow, written by the founder. The site also has single-purpose tool pages, such as an ASCII art generator and a website cloner, and an affiliate program that pays 20% of each referred subscription every month.

How it was built

These details come from the company's own pages and page code, the npm registry and a compiled third-party page. They are grade C. [2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14]

  • A Next.js web app. The page code loads Clerk for sign-in, and the checkout uses Stripe prices.
  • Generation uses what the site calls "top design models" and "Fine-tuned models"; no page names the model provider. The API can first generate a reference image from the prompt, and the design model then works from that image. Its error list includes "upstream model failure".
  • A compiled page says the pipeline uses fine-tuned image models such as Stable Diffusion or Flux. Not verified.
  • Designs come out as Tailwind CSS code, the MCP page says, and can be edited on a canvas, exported, or published as a website on the user's own domain.
  • The MCP server installs with npx -y @aidesigner/agent-skills init. For Claude Code it writes .mcp.json plus an agent, a command and a skill file. Sign-in uses OAuth, so no API key is stored in the user's project.
  • A public API streams results in the OpenAI server-sent-event format, for developers who call it from their own code.
  • Marketing: the founder's posts on X, Threads and Reddit (from the compiled page), the comparison posts on the blog, single-purpose tool pages, and a 20% recurring affiliate program.

The dead that came before

Five companies in the Loot Drop database promised to automate web design or to turn designs into code. The values below are from that database and are not independently verified.

Died 2014 to 2020Burned US$4.7M

The Grid

The promise

Websites designed by AI, without a designer's fee.

Why it died

It bet on AI before the AI was ready. Its designs looked clumsy next to polished and easy alternatives.

Product/Tech FailureLoot Drop entry ↗
Died 2018 to 2021Burned US$1.5M

Pagedraw

The promise

Turn Sketch designs into React code automatically.

Why it died

It built on Sketch while designers moved to Figma, and developers preferred to write the code by hand.

Died 2018 to 2021Burned US$1.2M

Haiku

The promise

Turn designers' detailed animations into code.

Why it died

Figma and Adobe XD covered the same ground, and the 2020 downturn ended it.

Died 2012 to 2016Burned US$3.6M

Pixate

The promise

Mobile app prototypes for designers, without code.

Why it died

Google bought it and then set it aside, while design work moved to the web and to Figma.

Died 2011 to 2023Burned US$350M

Invision

The promise

Close the gap between designers' files and developers' code.

Why it died

Figma offered real-time collaboration in the browser, and the users moved there.

What changed

The Grid promised websites designed by AI in 2014 and died because the AI was not good enough. Pagedraw, Haiku and Pixate tried to turn designs into code and lost to design tools that more people used. AIDesigner makes both promises again, and two things are different. AI models in 2025 and 2026 can produce a layout from a sentence that 293 subscribers pay for, and many buyers now build with AI coding agents whose screens, the company's blog argues, look generic by default.

The second difference is distribution. Pagedraw and Haiku asked developers to add a new tool to their work. AIDesigner plugs into the coding agents that developers already run, through an open protocol, so a design request is one more command in the same session. The risk that ended the predecessors is still present: Figma, Vercel, Lovable and the model makers can add the same feature to products with far more users, and AIDesigner's revenue has fallen since April 2026.

05

Can one person copy it now?

The method, yes. The timing, not easily.

The April 2026 jump came while AI coding agents were new and their screens looked generic, and that space is now crowded with funded tools. What can be copied is the method: name a visible weakness of a popular AI tool, sell the fix inside that tool through MCP, and price by usage so that heavy users pay more.

Where it is still open: Other weak spots of AI coding agents that users complain about in public: accessibility, copywriting, charts, animation, and a consistent brand across many generated screens.

  1. 1Find a weakness that users of a popular AI tool complain about in public, and state it in one line on your home page.
  2. 2Ship the fix as an MCP server, so that it runs inside the agents that people already use, with one install command.
  3. 3Record a short demo of each new feature and post it where those users read, such as X and Reddit.
  4. 4Price in credits with many tiers and a yearly option, and pay affiliates a recurring share.

What to watch

The risks are the mirror image of the causes above.

Revenue is falling

September 2026 revenue was 37.2% below April, and MRR fell 5.3% in the 30 days to 16 October 2026. The last 30 days show +17.0% in revenue only because of one US$2,405 day. The compiled page says the founder calls churn his biggest problem (not verified).

Large funded competitors

Vercel's post of 11 October 2023 announced v0, introduced a few weeks before, which makes a website from a description of the idea. Lovable, an AI app builder, raised US$200 million at a US$1.8 billion valuation in July 2025, US$330 million in December 2025 and US$400 million at a US$13.3 billion valuation in August 2026. AIDesigner's own blog compares it with Figma, Figma Make, Canva, Uizard, Framer, Webflow and Bolt.

Dependence on model providers and coding agents

The site does not name the models it uses, and its API lists "upstream model failure" among its errors, so a provider's price change or outage reaches AIDesigner directly. Its MCP channel runs through Claude Code, Cursor and other agents that it does not control. Anthropic publishes its own Frontend Design plugin for the same problem, and AIDesigner's blog tells readers to install it first.

One person and a small paying base

No source mentions staff; only the compiled page gives a headcount, 0 employees. The 293 subscriptions at about US$29 a month are 1.6% of the 18,000 users that the home page claims.

Which revenue is counted

The Stripe account behind the TrustMRR figures is the one that AIDesigner's pricing page uses. The compiled page says the founder also built two other AI tools, and the TrustMRR profile does not say whether any other product sells through the same account.

A website cloner

One of the site's tools promises to "Clone any website's design instantly". Copying another company's design can raise copyright questions for the user and for AIDesigner.
